I am totally psyched that Boy Meets Hero is going to be published. I am a huge
comic collector, and will be psyched to own this book. I've even gotten my partner
Chad heavily addicted.
What I've read
of the book, I love. Unfortunately I don't spend as much time online
at home as I do at work, so I'm definitely interested
in the print version.
Have you guys ever gone to Comicon. Chad and I went to San Diego this past
year. It was crazy! We did get to meet Joe Phillips though. I bought his
Connor Kent
aka Superboy print and he autographed it.
Will you guys get more of the profits if we buy an autographed copy. I rather
own that , and want you to make out in the deal.
I'll also respond to you on myspace. You guys are in my top friends.
Peace,
David
David!
Thanks for all your support! You rock!! Yes, we've been to comic-con
a few times, the first couple of trips we were promoting our
first comic project called "The Wonderverse". Then
we attended again in 2006 and it was CRAZY! I couldn't believe
how many people were crammed in there, lol.
As for our profits on the book, YES please wait and buy a copy
from us! Part of the publishing deal is that our "payment" from
the publisher is in copies of the book for us to sell so we're
counting on our long-time fans to come through for us and pick
up a signed copy from us :)
Thanks for being so enthusiastic about BMH, fans like you give
us the motivation to keep on comic-bookin'!
All the best!!
Russ
P.S. I'm gonna head over to myspace now and move you up into
our top friends area ;)

Who's my pick to play Justin?
I was just wondering why your not proposing Ryan Carnes, who played Justin in
Desperate Housewife, anymore?
Have a blast for New Year's Eve & best wishes for 2008!
-Joseph
Actually
I think we proposed Ryan Carnes to play Derek/Blue Comet in a
previous poll. But heck, if Mr. Carnes wants to play Justin Summers
in
"BMH the Movie", who am I to say no!? He is too hot for
words!
Hope you are having a great New Year! Thanks for writing in!

Hey Chayne and Russ!
I've e-mailed you before, but it's been such a long time you've probably forgotten
by now. Haha. Anyway, I finally caught up on Boy Meets Hero, and I love the outcome!
I never expected it (okay...maybe I did because I got to thinking while reading
Issue Three's 'Isle of Love'...)!
I can't wait to see more of Justin and Derek, and fighting alongside each other
nonetheless! You've got me jumping in my seat, dammit!
So, just because I was so excitedly inspired, I drew you both a picture. It's
not that good, and I'm still warming up to the feeling of my new markers, but
I hope you like it anyway.
Keep up the great work! <3
-Sheldyn
Sheldyn!
Thanks for writing in again! I LOVE the art you sent in! Seeing that
in the inbox really made my day! I'm glad the comic got you
so excited, lol. We have a lot of fun stuff planned for 2008,
you will definitely be seeing a lot more of Justin and Derek!
In addition, we're currently working on a "special edition" graphic
novel of Boy Meets Hero that is going to feature enhanced art
and several new scenes. We'll be announcing all the details
soon so keep an eye on our site for details.
Take care,
Russ

hey
omg thank you sooo much for this comic! well i LOVE comics and this one is really
good, because i think i may be gay really beleive i am, but im not sure but its
just that if i no i would def. come out cause i have no prob its just i want
to be sure(im 14)! so this is soooo nice finding a comic thats about gay superheros
and knowing its ok, its really helped(and its ok with ALL the parts in this comic,
really good) its just so hard to find characters or actual comics about homosexuality
because thats how i can relate! so thank you for helping me! and keep up the
good work, cant wait to see more!
will!!!!
Dear
Will,
You are so very welcome! Thank you for your wonderful email. One
of the
reasons we created Boy Meets Hero is because there aren't many comics
that deal with gay characters in leading roles. We wanted to show
readers that it's natural for some people to feel uneasy about being
gay, but that if those people accept themselves for who they are,
they
can overcome anything.
I was thirteen when I first realized I was gay. It happened the first
day of school my seventh grade year in 1985. My father was an art
teacher
at my middle-school and took me to his classroom in the morning before
class started. He left for the teachers lounge and I stayed behind
in
his room.
I began looking through some of the art books on the shelves and
found
one on figure drawing. It contained images of nude male and female
figures and I noticed that I was staring at the men much more than
the
women. I had heard the word gay by that point in my life and knew
that
it was something that people talked down about at the time. But I
just
couldn't help looking at the pictures of men. And then it hit me,
I was
gay and I coudn't tell anyone my secret!
I kept this information to myself for years until I went to college.
It
was there that I met Russell. We soon discovered we had feelings
for the
other and before we knew it, we were in love! Over the following
years
we came out to various friends and family members. Each time was
scary
but we felt much better afterward getting the truth out.
I just wanted to share some of what I went through when I realized
I was
gay. Each person's experience is different. Wether you are gay or
not is
your personal business. Be true to yourself and you'll be happy!
Take
care and best wishes.

D.B.K.
I have some question I like to ask you most of them are about Zack and Cold Snap.
1) Are there going to be any Halloween, Thanksgiving and/or Christmas theme in
the next few issues?
2) Will Zack breakout of prison and if so will he have help from Cold Snap or
some other villain or villains?
3) Will Cold Snap and Zack get back together or will they become enemies in the
next issues?
4) Will Zack reform in prison and/or come out of the closet and if he does will
he have a boyfriend?
5) Will Cold Snap bodyguards Ebony and lvory gain superpowers if they do will
it be superhuman strength and invulnerability and/or will Zack if he does will
it be something like technopathy?
6) We all now about the W.H.O. but is they one of supervillains and if so is
it called The World Villain Organization a.k.a. WVO or something like that?
7) Will there be any anti-villains and/or anti-hero’s in the next few issues?
8) will Derek, Justin and Jillian other enemies team up to destroy them and if
so who will lead them Zack, Cold Snap maybe both of them or a new villain?
9) I heard some rumors that you would allow the fans to make their only characters
and that the best ones would be made into supporting, recurring or minor character
in the next issues is this true because if it is I have one for you and if it
not maybe you could put it on you’r to do list becuces it sands like a
good
1)
Are there going to be any Halloween, Thanksgiving and/or Christmas
theme in the next few issues?
We do plan to do a holiday themed issue sometime in the future,
however, it is quite far down on our list of story ideas.
2) Will Zack breakout of prison and if so will he have help from
Cold
Snap or some other villain or villains?
Zack will get out of prison, but not in the way you think. We have
a
lot planned for him in upcoming issues.
3) Will Cold Snap and Zack get back together or will they become
enemies
in the next issues?
We're not sure at this point. We have a feeling Zack won't like Cold
Snap very much after our new story arc.
4) Will Zack reform in prison and/or come out of the closet and if
he
does will he have a boyfriend?
Like I mentioned, we have plans for good ol' Zack in our next story
arc so stay tuned.
5) Will Cold Snap bodyguards Ebony and lvory gain superpowers if
they do
will it be superhuman strength and invulnerability and/or will Zack
if
he does will it be something like technopathy?
As of now we don't have any plans to give them super powers.
6) We all now about the W.H.O. but is they one of supervillains and
if
so is it called The World Villain Organization a.k.a. WVO or something
like that?
That's an interesting idea. So far all of the villains in our comic
are not yet organized into any kind of evil equivilant of W.H.O.
But who
knows, maybe someday...
7) Will there be any anti-villains and/or anti-hero's in the next
few
issues?
We will be introducing a new villain in the next arc who will bring
into question Blue Comet and Fusion's very right to exist!
8) will Derek, Justin and Jillian other enemies team up to destroy
them
and if so who will lead them Zack, Cold Snap maybe both of them or
a new
villain?
There could be another team-up down the line. So far there aren't
any
plans yet.
9) I heard some rumors that you would allow the fans to make their
only
characters and that the best ones would be made into supporting,
recurring or minor character in the next issues is this true because
if
it is I have one for you and if it not maybe you could put it on
you'r
to do list becuces it sands like a good .
Actually, that is the gay-theme comic "Pride High" that
does that.
Well, thanks for your questions. We have more cool stuff planned
in
upcoming issues and hope you'll enjoy them!
Best regards,
Chayne

I just reading about the interview you guy's had with Tony Smith and it was great.
I really like the part were you tell us how you came up with Zack and Zap-man
I would like to now how you come up with the others. I agree with Tony that the
scene were Derek comes out to Captain Cosmos it was so touching that I almost
to cry. I really like the idea of haveing Derek and Justin getting in a fight
then kiss and makeup.
Anyway I just wanted to tell you that I thank the interview wet great and to
kip up the good work.
Hey
Dawnell!
Thanks for your latest email and thanks for what you said regarding
our
interview! It is so sweet of you to continue to write in even after
we
finished the initial story arc for BMH. It's great to know that people
still care about our characters!
We both really enjoyed the interview with Tony. He has given us
tremendous support and it was awesome that he asked to interview
us!
Most of the characters we come up with are inspired from real life
as
well as entertainment. Blue Comet was inspired by my love of Green
Lantern and other cosmic characters. My favorite color is blue, so
I
decided to make a blue hero with cosmic powers! The way he felt about
being gay was drawn from real life experiences that Russell went
through. (Except no one ever kidnapped me and forced him to come
out to
the world!)
Justin is based upon my personality. As you may know, I love comics,
action figures and video games. (I also secretly wish I could become
a
super hero too!) His Fusion persona is inspired loosely on the MegaMan
Battle Network video games. In those games MegaMan could add other
character's powers to his own if he developed a special bond with
them.
We thought that would be a cool power for Fusion to have and we adapted
it to fit our story.
Jillian is based on the actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus from "Seinfeld"
fame. We both loved that show back in college and really loved her
character Elaine. I came up with the name Sunstar because both "sun" and
"
star" mean basically the same thing. I figured that no one else
had
used that name in comics. We wanted her to have a fun personality
and a
sarcastic wit. She is the jokester of the cast.
Finally, Cold Snap is a mixture of Karen Walker from "Will & Grace" and
Wilhelmina Slater from "Ugly Betty". She is also a Bruce
Wayne type
character who decided to turn bad. She is sophisticated, wealthy
and a
bit snappish. She is a total blast to write for because she doesn't
have
to be nice! She has ice powers because we wanted her to be an elemental
opposite nemesis for Sunstar.
Well, I hope that gives you some insight behind the inspiration for
our
characters. Thanks again for your support!
All the best,
Chayne

Dear Chayne and Russell,
I was quite lucky by way of a link from Queerclick to Gaymonsters, to come across
the link to your site.
Growing up, I was a huge fan of DC comics, and had a sizeable collection. I also
had crushes on several of the guys in them as well.
This morning, reading your work, took me to a place I wish had been around when
I was a kid. To say that you've done a great job isn't enough. The artwork and
storyline both are great, and I'm a huge fan of things that are implicit more
than explicit. It's a totally class act, guys.
YOU ROCK!!!!! :)
looking forward to next year and seeing what you do with our heroes (I feel a
strong empathy to them)
my best to you both :)
Todd
Todd,
Wow, thanks so much for your amazing letter. It really made our day!
We
can't express enough how much it means to us when we get letters
from
readers who really "get" what we're trying to accomplish
with our comic.
We too wish that a comic similar to ours had been around when we
were
kids. It's important that people discover that gay people have as
much
right to be super heroes as everyone else. Just think of how back
in the
old days, all super heroes were white. These days many more ethnic
heroes are slowly being introduced. We felt it was time that a gay
hero
got the spotlight as well. It's important that gay young people can
read
about loving, commited characters such as Derek and Justin.
So thank you for writing in to tell us how much our story means to
you.
We love readers like you!
All the best,
Chayne & Russell

- Domink sent a donation:
Dear Dominik,
We want to thank you so much for your generous donation you sent to us at Boy
Meets Hero! Donations help tremendously! Not only do they help keep our comic
going, they also help by letting us know that people appreciate the hard work
that goes into this project. It can be a struggle working on a project that is
basically free to our readers, and since neither of us is independantly wealthy,
your donation means so much more than you know!
Thank you again!
Sincerely,
Chayne & Russell
Hi,
you're welcome. I was really moved by the comic. Just keep up
the good work and create tons of new stories, where love always
prevails in the end.
All the best,
Dominik

Russ & Chayne,
Congratulations on a great story! Now I have something positive to look forward
to in 2008 (other than the election year, ugh)! Just post the date when I can
buy your comics and I'll be there! Also can you add a coffee mug featuring Fusion
in your Cafe Press store? I would love to add him to my collection! Thanks!
Ken
[We
were unable to reach Ken via his email, this is what we tried
to send:]
Hey
Ken,
Thansk for writing in! I'm really glad you liked our story and
by now,
you know that the graphic novel will be out next year.
YAY!
Your suggestion for a Fusion mug at Cafe Press is a great idea! As we
are wrapping up work on the touch-ups to the graphic novel, we
need to look into getting new merchandise up for purchase!
Well, I just wanted to get back to you and say thank
you for writing in!
Best wishes,
Chayne

Hi guys:
I found your comic at the beginning of this year, and immediately became a fan
I love comics since I learn to read, and now I'm a childlike (or childish) man
of 42 that have read a gay comic for the first time (it's a way of loosing the
virginity again).
I have a little of difficulty with some words or expressions, but is useful to
improve my English (will you translate the comic to Spanish?; many Spanish talkers
will be thankful).
I hope you’ll continue with the same comic or another one.
Let me scream :
THE WORLD NEEDS GAY HEROES
My regards
Finally an Argentinian greeting
Saludos a todos y chau. Canejo (the last word is use by an Argentinian comic
character called Patoruzú.
Javier
Javier,
Thank you so much for taking time to write to us regarding Boy Meets
Hero way back in September. I'm sorry that this email is so late
in
getting back to you, but I wanted to let you know all the e-mails
we get
are very important to us!
I'm so glad that you enjoy our comic! I'm also greatful that you
took
the time to read it even though it is not in your native language.
Hopefully someday we will be able to translate it into spanish if
there
is enough demand.
And yes, the world does neeed more gay heroes! That's why we created
our
comic in the first place!
Well, take care and thanks for being a fan!
Best wishes,
Chayne

Hi boys.
I really like "Boy meets heroes" because i always like cartoons but
I ' ve never found one about gay guys.
It's fantastic read it beacause it ' s about two gay heroes who are proud of
themselves. I send your cartoon to my friends and they like it and ask me where
i get it. When the new episode is goig to come? I hope it comes soon. Keep your
great work.

Greg
Hi
Greg,
Greetings from New Mexico. It's so cool to hear from Brazil! It's
also
cool to hear that you really like our comic!
We wanted Derek and Justin to be very proud of who they are, it just
took Derek a little while to get there. Our new printed series will
debut sometime next year. We are currently working on some ideas
and we
hope you will join us for the further adventures of Blue Comet and
Fusion!
Take care and thanks for writing!

Hey Guys~
Saw you got the newest page up on Thursday night instead of Friday, again, congraduations
on getting it up early. I don't think I, or for that matter, most of us say thanks
enough to you guys for making this comic, but thank you.
It can always be nice to hear it, even if you have already heard it once. Hope
the kids (dogs) are doing well and getting along, think it's about time for me to
turn in, got laundry tomorrow and so forth, so night.
Your Friend,
Brian B. :^)
Hi
Brian,
Thanks so much for the kudos! It really meant a lot to get your email.
Hearing how much people like what we do makes all the difference.
Thanks
for sticking with us over the past months. We hope you enjoyed the
whole
experience. Keep in touch and look for more stuff from us sometime
next
year.

If Justin still can't find a name, then why not...
Why not 'Fusion', for his base of power, or'Cosmic Man' as a tribute(SP?) to
Derek(It was his cosmic power that charged him enoth(SP?) to start his Super
self) & his mentor Captain Cosmos
my vote Is with fusion, all the ***-man names are geting on my nerves...
again, a huge fan of your work, Omry
Omry,
I guess great minds think alike! Check out our new page!
We decided Justin's code name was going to be Fusion in July 2006.
We've
been waiting patiently to debut this week's page and finally reveal
his
code name. We dropped a few hints here and there when we used the
words
fusion & fuse. We thought it would be funny to see a character
try to
come up with a code name in the heat of battle, only to discover
it can
be quite difficult to choose just the right one.
Good job on figuring out that Justin is going by the name FUSION!

Thanks answering my questions list week. I can't Wait to see the next issue.
But i wood like to see the sex scenes with Derek and Justin to be a little longer
it so romantic them make love don't you and for their to be two page a week and
not just one but we can dream. I have a few more questions to ask if you don't
mind some if them are a little out their but i think win fans ask questions like
this it meme you doing a fantastic job.
1) Are they plans to make BMH into a on-line animated series?
It wood be so cool no sweet if it was don't you?
2)Will Derek and Justin join a gay superhero team That fight a gay supervillain
team who only attacked superhero's in future issue's?
maybe the team's will become a spin-off of BoyMeetsHero that wood be great don't
you thank so?
3) Will Derek, Justin and other gay people have to fight a new insane homophobia
serial killing villain who only attacked gay superhero's, supervillain's and
other people?
4)Justin has the superpowers of Derek and Zack robot so is he more powerful then
Derek and if so how powerful is he?
5)Do Justin have to have sex with Derek to make has superpower's work or have
his superpower's fully manifested?
6) Now that Derek has come out of the closet will we meet Jillian boyfriend if
their is one?
7) Will their be a origin-story for Blue Comet, Sunstar, Captain Cosmos, Zap-Man,
Atom Bomb, Magma Girl, Cold Snap and Strato?
8)Is Mr.Millhelm Agnew a retire superhero who lost his superpowers some how and
become a marketing agent of W.H.O.?
The last two questions are not about BMH but i wood like no what you guys think?
1) Do you think Milo Ventimiglia who plays Peter Petrelli on NBS hit TV series
Heroes is HOT or what?
2)Do you think Parthenon on Sci Fi Channel reality show Who Wants to be a superhero
is going to win?
P.S. Thanks agin for the answers last time and for the fantastic works of art
you guys.
Well that's it. Drop a line for answers.
Hi
again Dawnell. Sorry this email is a little later than last time.
Glad you enjoy the sex scenes! They were a blast to draw (big surprise
there, huh?).
Now on to the answers to your questions:
1) Are they plans to make BMH into a on-line animated series?
It wood be so cool no sweet if it was don't you?
A: That would be so totally cool! Unfortunately there are no plans
as of
yet. We are planning to continue the comic next year and see where
that
takes us. Who knows, maybe someday there will be an animated version
of
BMH!
2)Will Derek and Justin join a gay superhero team That fight a gay
supervillain team who only attacked superhero's in future issue's?
maybe the team's will become a spin-off of BoyMeetsHero that wood
be
great don't you thank so?
A: Blue Comet and Fusion are going to remain a duo for now. We may
have
them team-up with other heroes and super teams from time to time.
For
right now, we want to focus on developing the relationship between
our
main characters.
3) Will Derek, Justin and other gay people have to fight a new insane
homophobia serial killing villain who only attacked gay superhero's,
supervillain's and other people?
A: Great question! We do have plans to introduce a new homophobic
villain who wants to rid the world of gays. However, he won't be
a
serial killer. We want to keep that kind of violence out of BMH.
Stay
tuned...
4)Justin has the superpowers of Derek and Zack robot so is he more
powerful then Derek and if so how powerful is he?
A: Justin has powers of his own that are still unknown. He does posess
some power from Blue Comet but only a small portion. The powers he
got
from the robot are now a part of him too, however, he is not not
more
powerful than Blue Comet. The nature of both Fusion and Blue Comets
new
powers will be explored further in upcoming issues.
5)Do Justin have to have sex with Derek to make has superpower's
work or
have his superpower's fully manifested?
A: Justin's powers have now fully come forward. His closeness to
Derek
and making love to him brought them out. He doesn't have to sex to
manifesst them anymore, but what a way to get powers, huh?
6) Now that Derek has come out of the closet will we meet Jillian
boyfriend if their is one?
A: Yes. We do plan to give Jillian a boyfriend. Maybe a hot hunky
man
who is always shirtless! Sound good?
7) Will their be a origin-story for Blue Comet, Sunstar, Captain
Cosmos,
Zap-Man, Atom Bomb, Magma Girl, Cold Snap and Strato?
A: Another good question. Nothing is planned so far, but I'm sure
that
sometime in the future we will get around to origin stories for most
of
the characters you mention, especially the main ones. I think it
would
be very cool to see how Derek got his powers all those years ago.
8)Is Mr.Millhelm Agnew a retire superhero who lost his superpowers
some
how and become a marketing agent of W.H.O.?
A: Not as far as we know. Mr. Agnew is a normal person who just happens
to love money. A lot!
The last two questions are not about BMH but i wood like no what
you
guys think?
1) Do you think Milo Ventimiglia who plays Peter Petrelli on NBS
hit TV
series Heroes is HOT or what?
A: Oh, yes! Very! I love his hair!
2)Do you think Parthenon on Sci Fi Channel reality show Who Wants
to be
a superhero is going to win?
A: I really did think he was going to win. I was rooting for him.
Like I
always say, the world needs more gay super heroes!!!
Well, there you go! Hope that answers things for ya! Thanks for being
a
fan of BMH!

D.B.K.
You guys have done a fantastic job! And I look forward to seeing more in the
future.I would like to ask some questions?
1) Will Derek and Justin get married and if so will we meet their parents?
2) Is Justin going to join W.H.O. and if so, will he be teamed up with Jillian
and Derek?
3) Is Zack Savage still attracted to Derek? And if so is he jealous that Justin
is Derek boyfriend and not him?
4)Will their be more superheros coming out of the closet and if so will zap-man
be one?
Well that's it. Drop a line for answers.
D.B.K.
Thanks for your compliments! We always love to hear how fantastic
a job
we are doing! Now on to some anwsers:
1) Will Derek and Justin get married and if so will we meet their
parents?
I think it would be great if D & J got married! If there realtionship
continues in the direction it's headed, I can see them tying the
knot
someday. We do have plans to meet both set of parents in future issues.
2) Is Justin going to join W.H.O. and if so, will he be teamed up
with
Jillian and Derek?
Very astute! We love readers like you! Yes, Justin is certainly going
to
join W.H.O. now that he needs hero training. And yes he will be teamed
with Jill & Derek. Just wait and see how the story wraps up in
the nexts
few weeks to see where our heroes are headed.
3) Is Zack Savage still attracted to Derek? And if so is he jealous
that
Justin is Derek boyfriend and not him?
Absolutely! Although he will never admit this to anyone! His jealousy
is
the reason he lost his cool during the big finale. I'm sure nothing
would please him more than seeing them break-up!
4)Will their be more superheros coming out of the closet and if so
will
zap-man be one?
Well, there will be more heroes that will come out of the closet
thanks
to D & J. Look for them in future issues as well. However, Zap-Man
is
too much into the ladies to ever bat for our team! Maybe that's a
good
thing, even though he has killer looks, he's way too obnoxious!
And there you have it! Hope that answers your questions! Take care
and
thanks so much for writing in!
All the best!

Hi
Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your Boy Meets Hero strip. I only discovered
it recently but quickly read through the whole series and now check the site
thrice weekly waiting for the next episode. I'm not sure about the plot twist
of giving Justin powers too but am keen to see how that plot line develops.
I run a small web-based comic dealership (turned my 30 year collecting hobby
into a really lousy paying business) www.albioncomics.co.uk
Cheers for the great work. Keep it up (no double-entendre intended)
Regards
Steve
Steve,
Glad you are enjoying our comic. We felt it would be a great twist
to
have Justin join Derek in the hero biz. We never intended Justin
to be a
Mary Jane or Lois Lane type character who always gets left behind
while
their significant other goes off to save the world. Instead, Justin
is a
character who wants to be a super hero like his sister and boyfriend.
Hence his facination with comics, heroes, video games, etc. Plus,
he did
had the tendency to follow Sunstar during some of her missions as
seen
in issue one.
We felt Justin deserved to become super! The best part is that now
Derek
won't ever feel compeled to break-up with him for fear that
super-villains will try to strike at him through Justin. Everything
works out!
Justin gaining powers opens our world of stories up so much more
than
merely leaving him back at the house, missing all the cool adventures.
So rest assured, we have some great stuff planned for the future!
And we
always strive to "keep it up" wink, wink!
Thanks for writing. Best wishes!

Hey there it's me again to tell you that the comic is going great, but there
is a small tiny little issues one of my friends had with Justin getting some
powers, he thought that it would be more like a Hero with a normal lover not
another Superhero, I told him that it was awaken my the flames of intense orgasmic...
(WOW!!! stay on topic) that ignited a power and that he knew Justin was related
to Juliann who was already a superhero. Still a real love connection between
two people is the greatest thing ever.
PS: why was Justin acting like an idiot when he came to his power and got the
costume, shesh, it's hard to say it in English try translating it to Spanish...
Anyway many loves and kisses to the both of you and keep the fun coming.
May Derek and Justin have a happy time saving the day and stuff...
One of a thousand fans
Luis
Hi
Luis,
Thanks for continuing to write in to let us know what you think of
the
comic! It means a great deal.
We thought it would be cool to have Derek & Justin's powers linked
together through the bond and affection they have for each other.
Now
they are definitely much stronger together than ever before.
When Justin got his powers he was overwhelmed by excitiment. He received
the one thing he had wanted his whole life; to posess super powers
like
his boyfriend and sister. He wasn't behaving like an idiot, he was
just
happy as punch to be able to finally join his partner the way he
always
dreamt of.
Take care and best wishes.

True but I did not meant
it as an Insult plus, the whole "his
lighting
attracted to my rod" skit was the whole point that I wanted to
issue. Like
his sister said I say again "How Dorky"

Hey Boys,
Thank you so much for the write-up on your site! Sooo sweet! Can I be anymore
excited? I am going to totally put up a link to your site and I totally support
your efforts in printing you comic! I wish you would! I know it would do soooo
super well! It's great. And I am very excited that Justin has superpowers now.
I think that will make for all kinds of future fun! Bravo!

Hehe, yay gratuitous nakedness lol...though gold streak sounded cool, if i
had to make a guess, i'd say that his costume might look abit like sunstar's,
after all he did design that...and maybe crossed with 'comet's (unconciously
he's been wanting to be more like his lover)
mmm talk about edge of my seat, really cant wait to see, i swear you guys are
worse than chocolate (its sooo good and soo moreish lol)
keep those pencils up, you've got a brilliant storyline going on :P

Hello. I just wanted to say that your website, comic, artwork and story telling
are great. I was just wondering if you have any plans on making Boy Meets Hero
into a graphic novel sometime in the future. Thank You.
Wllccm25
Hi
there!
Thanks for writing us and for enjoying our comic! To answer your
question YES!! we are planning to publish a graphic novel of the
entire "Boy Meets Hero" story hopefully early 2008. We're
also going to add in a few new scenes throughout so long time readers
of the comic will get to see some exciting new stuff in the print
version.
Take care,
Russ

Well its not exactly gushing. I'm being honest
Though it does sound dirty - but that's my mind, I have sex on the brain, it
comes with the territory of a young man who bottled up his sexuality for years
(I was about 6 months away from becoming a total Zack Savage when I came out
for the first time (its a recurring process with me)).
Okay I digress, I'm advising everyone to check your strip out like I said you
and Pride High have top ratings with me since both have gay primary characters
that aren't elbowed into a stereotype or shoved to the background once they come
out.
The skills are insane and my only disappointment was when you took a week off
(damn you! lol) I can't get enough you just can't post them fast enough!
Keep it up, I loved the latest plot twist - though Zack seriously needs a boyfriend...where
oh where are the hot anti-heroes to woo the villains when you need them? :D
Okay backing off before a restraining order is needed
A huge Fan,
The Hellion
July 31st, 2007
I love comic, characters, plot & all.
1) Is Derek really stronger now, or just back to normal, or worse,
is he getting weaker & what he feels is his energy surrounding
him as it disipates away?
2) If all Justin needed was Derek's cosmic energy to trigger his power,
then why did it not happen before like the Isle of Love... did it need
to gather with repeated exposure or something?
3) Will Sunstar HAVE to date Zapman now?(hope not)
Omry, a fan
Omry,
Thanks for writing in. Here are the answers to your very cool questions:
1. Yes, Derek is now stronger. The sharing of his power with Justin
has increased his own. How much has yet to be determined.
2. Justin's power was lying dormant inside him since birth. His repeated
exposure while making love to Derek slowly drew his power to the
surface. It wasn't until Justin saw Derek in mortal danger that the
power sparked inside him. Having been in close resonance with Derek's
powers, he was able to pull them into himself before Zack could steal
them.
3. No way in hell!!!
Hope that helps! Thanks for your interest into what's going on.

Hey guys,
I just ran across Boy Meets Hero online....don't know exactly how
I found it, just surfing around. I'm sort of a "fringe" comic
geek....that is, I collected from when I was about 5 years old (1970)
until I went away to college in '83. While in school at Berkeley,
I worked at a couple of comics stores, so I stayed connected. But
after that point, I dropped out of buying comics for myself.
And when I moved away, I bequeathed my entire collection to my baby
brother, who's also gay, and turned into a way bigger comic geek
than me. In fact, I just got off the phone with him hearing his tales
of San Diego Con....his 8th year in a row. I catch up on my
favorite titles when I visit him in Southern California...he just
hands me stacks
of DC (and some Marvel) titles and I stay up until 3 a.m. catching
up with Legion and Supergirl, and all kinds of gay stuff.
Anyway, like I say, I just stumbled across your site, and in the
past couple of nights read the entire story, and I have to say, I'm
impressed. I
try to support this kind of thing...have been picking up Pride High
at my local comic shop, "Whatever," in the Castro, in San
Francisco.
I really found both the art and the story for Boy Meets Hero to be
very well done, and entertaining.
I wanted to really give you guys kudos for your great work....And to
ask, When are you continuing the story? I'm dying to see what
kind of costume/uniform Justin comes up with, and follow his late-blooming
evolution into a hero in his own right. Lots of potential storylines
with two hot gay heroes in a fledgling relationship.
Also, are you ever going to publish a hardcopy, or stay online only? I
really think you have a good product.
My brother, one of his gay friends, and their 2 straight buddies
are creating a podcast, tentatively titled "Nerdgasmic! 'Mos & Bros," where
they'll give the gay (and gay-friendly) angles to topics related to
comics, movies, sci-fi, and pop culture. This year at the Con
they began filming and getting some interviews. (with the creators
of Pride High, among others) Would you be interested in them
interviewing you? I just turned my brother Eric onto your site,
and suggested he read it.
Mainly I just wanted to congratulate you on a job well done! And
I look forward to seeing more!
Thanks,
David
David,
Thanks so much for writing in and enjoying our work! Receiving letters
from appreciative readers really helps keep us excited to work
on Boy Meets Hero. To answer some of your questions:
1. We post a new page every week usually Thursday evenings.
2. I'm actually working on the coloring for the new page which will
feature Justin's costume. We'll also reveal his superhero name in
the next couple of weeks.
3. We are going to publish a graphic novel collection hopefully early
next year. We've contacted some publishers and hoping to get it out
there in a big way.
4. We have a notebook FULL of new ideas for adventures for the BMH
crew. I think next year we'll begin to develop a hybrid of online/printed
material. The tentative plan is to self-publish individual comic
issues after we get the "Boy Meets Hero" graphic novel
out there.
5. We'd love to be interviewed for your brother's podcast! Any kind
of promotion helps and free is our favorite kind :)
Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to send us such a thoughtful
letter!
All the best,
Russ

Hi Boys!
I love your comic sooo much! I have been reading it pretty much since
the begining and my only complaint is that it doesn't come out often
enough. Once a week is simply not enough for me! I think you both are
doing an amazing job.
I also create my own comic book, it's totally Indy and it doesn't
look as great as yours does, but it's mine and I love it. It's called "So
Super Duper" and my first issue has just come out, my second
is on it's way. I would love to befriend you guys and help promote
each
other. We gays need to stick together! :)
Brian
www.sosuperduper.com
Brian!
Thanks for being such a long-time fan and for the online copy of
your comic, it was a blast to read! I had a huge smile the entire
time reading it and we both laughed out loud more than once.
Also liked the twist with Psyche not being gay (or at least in
denial, lol) and the supposedly hetero Comet lusting after him.
Great job! We also agree with you that gay comic creators really
need to support each other.
We wish we had the time to produce more than one page a week too!
Next year we're going to publish the entire story as a graphic novel
and then hopefully move into an ongoing printed series.
Thanks again and keep up the great work!

Hey Guys,
Really really loving whats happening, though i must admit it really
reinforced the fact that it was a gay-intrest comic when the cliffhanger
is what the superhero's new outfit will be lol (p.s. i am DYING to
know,
so that wasnn't a critism)
Keep up the good work,
Tim
Hey
Tim,
Thanks for the compliments! Just wait, Justin's new threads are super-sexy!
Would a gay character have it any other way? ;) Although it was pretty
hot to have him fly around naked, (He could have called himself Gold
Streak!) I guess he does need to fit in with the rest of the hero
community and wear a costume... Hope you like it!

Hey Guys~
Thought I'd drop a line and let you know I thought the gradient used
on the
latest page of your comic was a nice touch. The one used in the hurays,
and
alrights, and so forth coming from the crowd. I was also half expecting
that
you wouldn't have a chance to upload the new page until tomorrow, but
I was
surprised to find it was up-loaded yesterday, Huray for you guys getting
the
next page done early, :^)
Ok, later guys,
your friend,
Brian Burke
Hey
Brian,
Glad you liked the crowd's celebratory word ballons. Russ actually
came up with those and I think they turned out great myself! We do
try our best to get the pages out each week. Thanks for noticing
it was up early!

I love seeing power transference! Well, I hope that's what's
happened. Please don't make Justin have had "latent powers";
I'd much
rather see his power be a side-effect of the blue comet sharing his
love with him.
-Gemini6Ice
Thanks
for writing in!! When we thought of giving Justing powers over
a year ago (!) we definitely wanted it to be as a result of his
love and connection with Derek (That's why we hinted at it during
the island sex scene when Justin, who used to glow with the same
blue energy that Derek has suddenly started glowing a bright yellow.)
So, you'll see over the next few pages that what happened to Justin
is sort of a "Fusion" of the deep connection he has with
Derek and some latent powers inherited but never activated from Justin's
superpowered parents.
Thanks for reading!!

Hi there! A short while ago I messaged you to say how much I was
loving your comic, and I just felt like saying that I adore it
even more now! :D
I love how you guys handled Blue Comet being forced
to come out (and thought it was really amusing that the homophobic
villain turned out to be a closet case).
But WAAI! The Cliffies! I want to see what happens to Justin!!!
Looking forward to the next one.
Cheers,

Dear
Kirsten,
It's so great to hear that you adore our comic! Thanks for the compliment
regarding Blue Comet comming out. It was an incredibly important
scene, and I'm pleased that you and other fans have had great things
to say about it! And we thought it made perfect sense that the reason
the villain hated Blue Comet so much was because he was in love with
him and couldn't have him.
Aren't "cliffies" great! they keep people coming back for
more! Hope you are enjoying Justin's exploits as they unfold.
Best wishes!

I really liked the last pages, even though I saw Justin's powers' "triggering-off" arrive
when reading his updated profile (BTW, you could have done new illustrations,
the cropped ones ain't got a good definition, cheeky, me? but eh the
more I love, the more I'm demanding ;°D ) & remembering the
glowing love-making... I discovered your comic at 2005 fall (nearly
2 years, waw!) the plot's better & better, the style is neat, but
(yes another complain, the last one I swear) I miss the humourous graphic
details (huge sweat drop on p.5 ...).
I hope you have lots in store to keep them busy for years to come...
Excuse the poor English but I'm French speaking.
Take care, with love from liege (Belgium),
Joey
Joey,
Glad you liked the page! We were hoping people would get a kick out
of Justin getting super powers and being able to help his boyfriend.
We wanted to leave a few clues that lead up to it and it's good
to know that attentive readers picked up on them.
The huge sweat drops are always fun to include. So far the intensity
of the finale hasn't had a place for them, that is until Justin realized
that he had been flying around naked in front of thousands of people!!!
Hope you enjoyed that!
Take care and best wishes!

Dear Chayne,
I am a avid reader of your online comic and love it. Keep up the super
work and job. Question. How can i get Pictures from you on the characters
i like? I draw and do rpg's off and on line. Here are two pic's i have
done for my gaming group.. how can i buy pictures of your characters
to brag to my friends about your marvelous work?
Sinerely,
Yantzy
Dear Yantzy,
Thanks for your very kind words regarding my art. You don't know
how much that means to me! It's also great to hear that you are
an avid reader of BHM... great taste! lol
You are definitely very talented yourself! I love your illustration
of Spider-Boy! (I think that's who he is...) Anyway, he is very sexy!
Thank you for sharing your work.
So far, we don't have any printed comics containing our BMH characters.
However, because of your request, we are looking into selling signed
prints at some point in the near future. Hopefully we will be able
to provide you with what you are looking for. So keep an eye out
for an announcement on our main page once we figure out what we're
going to do. In the meantime, we do have shirts and mugs available
through our Cafe Press store if you are interested.
Thanks again for contacting us here at BMH. Keep up your great work!

Im not sure if you guys remember me, but I wrote a while back and I
think my letter was the 1st one to appear on the "Fan Male" thx
for that honor BTW :D
I just wanna say that Im still loving your comic, and now I like it
even more, you guys just rock :D
So now that I have PayPal I donated some cash, I'd give more, but My
economical situation aint great now, but I'll give us much as I can
when I can :D
Actually while I was reading one of your episodes today, made me think
how (recently) confused I am about my sexuality. I've never been dis
confused and disoriented before. I know I like men, but I also find
women attractive, but the problem is that everyone around me tells
me that I have to choose "sides" and its getting very complicated
one me, I really dont know what to think anymore, some friends tell
me one think thing and some tell me the opposite.
I thought a year back, that I'd never be making this kind of decisions,
but here I am... Thats how life is... The more you grow the more complicated
it gets :S
Do you guys think I should seek help with a psicologist or what? I
really dont know what to do or think anymore. Any advice?
Sorry to bother though, I know you guys are busy.
Love,
Rody
Rody,
Thanks for your donation and for continuing to be a fan of BMH!!
As for your "confusion" all I can offer is that sexuality
is a complex
thing and while there are people who are 100% gay or 100% straight
I
think most of the world falls somewhere in between. Being bi-sexual
could be the best of both worlds but the most important thing is
to
just be true to yourself. No matter what the Republicans or religious
right wingers say, there aren't any rules to sex or sexuality so
if
you want to explore relationships with women go for it! BUT be
upfront with any potential partner about your desires for men so
that
you can avoid any "Zack Savage" moments :)
Take it easy!

Hey, just wanted to say that I love your webcomic
It's right up there with the one that hath first taken my heart (Pride
High) and I'm just so impressed with it, when it was brought up on
the pridecomics.com forum I realized I'd been lazy and not kept an
eye on it.
I kicked myself...literally.
I read it a while back and only now got caught up on what I missed.
I loved the plot turns and how real life mixed with superheroing.
I love it, its a polished super sexy piece of work, everything I could
possibly hope for with enough full and semi nudity yet no loss of plot!
Amazing ;)
Just hoping for more updates poste haste
Totally hoping for a three way Zack/Justin/Derek ;) but that's just
the kind of mind I have. I'm either creating comic books or thinking
of hot guys...thankfully you've given me a good outlet to do both.
The story is strong
The characters are believeable (and I love believeable characters because
there are times I find it impossible to create them myself - you really
make them come alive, I amn't sure if I do so I can definitely say
you've got mad skills)
The art is absolutely GORGEOUS!
And the pace is lively yet not rushed
Wow I've ranted.
Keep it up, you've got everything some of us (comicbook creator wannabes)
are still looking for.
Top Marks and fair props to ya

Anyway, Thanks for taking the time to write in and let us know that

they wouldn't be much fun otherwise!
Thanks for all of the wonderful things you said about our work, it

I'm hooked on your story since it actually has a plot... Even though
I liked it from the beginning ;°)
I find Zack Savinski kinda cute with his glasses & running his
hand on his head from nervousness :°p
Have you been considering him turning 'good' again, maybe after confessing
being still gay? After being defeated, we want a fight, don't we...
I can see Justin giving a helping hand from the inside, litteraly.
I'd like to wish you the best (even with 2 months of delay) for your
anniversary & ask forgivness for my poor English, I'm French speaking & living
in Belgium (Liege) I had to learn Dutch (2d national language) in highscool
=°(
See ya
Joey
Joey,
Thanks for writing to let us know you enjoy our comic! I think
Zack is cute too in his own "bad-boy" way. Zack is
a frustrated individual who takes out his problems on other people.
I don't
know if he will ever turn good, but one never knows. He is too
much in love with Blue Comet and too deep in the closet. Plus,
I don't think he gonna be too fond of Blue Comet after he gets
his butt kicked by him!
Take care and thanks for being a fan.

Dear Chayne & Russ,
Believe it or not, my life is following your comic. Today I told the
person I have always had a crush on that I am gay! He completely understood
and said that he didn't care. He is not gay himself but this comic
like I have said in the past has made an impact on my life. Thanks
guys so much and keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Trevor
Trevor,
We were truly moved by your letter and are really proud our YOUR
courage! Coming out to friends and family can be frightening but
they
almost always surprise us with their acceptance.
We are very humbled by your adoration of our work! Fans like you
are
the reason why we continue to work on the comic. Part of our
motivation for producing "Boy Meets Hero" is to offer a
positive
portrayal of gay men and hopefully offer some inspiration as well.
If
your story is any indication, it seems like we're succeeding!
Stay proud and stay strong!

"You're killin' me, Smalls!"
But in this case; You're killin' me, Chayne!!! Ahhh, I can't wait until
you update this comic. I'm so excited! Oh...I hope the fans don't turn
on Blue Comet. And that stupid son of a batch of cookies Zack [yes,
I am overreacting. I get attached to comic book heroes]! Poor Justin!
I'm gonna go crazyyyyy!
Aside from me wallowing in impatientness, I'm jealous of you and your
mad skills. I have spur of the moment drawings where I actually like
how it turned out, but that's rare! Your artwork is amazing! I love
Justin and Derek to death! It reminds me of my characters...except
none of them have super powers ;]. But yeah...I wish I could draw feet
and fingers and facial expressions as well as you! Hell, I wish I could
draw the male anatomy [somewhat anime-ish style though], period!
So I shall shove off now. I can't wait until you get the next chapter
up! Sorry I haven't been around a lot, by the way. I'm sure you all
know how school was, right? Right.
Take care, Chayne and Russ! Love ya!
Sheldyn
Sheldyn,
Thanks for writing in!! We're love your enthusiasm! Zack is a whole
lotta crazy but don't worry Justin will be okay, Blue Comet on
the other hand.... ;)
I also wanted to offer a quick note of encouragement from a fellow
frustrated illustrator.. don't give up!! Chayne always puts me to
shame with his skills, I guess that's why he keeps me chained to
photoshop, lol.
Thanks for diggin our comic!!

I'm JJ from the Philippines. I like your comics very much. Great work!
Keep it up. Oh, how about two pages every week?
JJ,
Thanks
for sending in the awesome compliments! We'd love to post two pages
a week but this last scene has been a tough one to manage and it's
kept us scrambling to keep up. Keep checking in every week though,
we have some exciting twists to look forward to!
Thanks for reading BMH!!

Hey Guys~
So, Zack, in his own sick way, pushed Derek to come out of the closet,
huh?
Hmm, maybe when all the fighting is done and Zack is behind bars for
good this
time, Derek and Justin will show Zack there are no hard feelings by
sending him
a muffin basket or a bouquet of flowers, and as a way for helping Derek
come
out of the closet. No one is ever truely ready, sometimes an additional
push
IS needed.
I'm just mess'n with you guys, lol. (Kinda) lol.
Oh, but seriously, can we see the arm on the left side of the mech
from a side
view, the one without any fingers; I'm trying to figure out if it's
like a
claw, or just a gun.
Always, your friend,
Brian B.
Dear
Brian,
Yes, Zack did indeed push Blue Comet out of the closet. Zack has
had a
secret crush on BC for a while. Since the fateful day that BC turned
Zack down, he has longed to get even. Finding out that BC was really
gay
that night at the dance club gave Zack what he considered his ultimate
revenge: outing Blue Comet in front of the world. And as you pointed
out, little did he realize that he did BC a favor and actually empowered
him. Maybe Derek should send him some muffins and flowers!
Thanks again for being a fan, talk to ya later.
Chayne
