Justin Summers
is the son of the retired super heroes Atom Bomb and Magma Girl,
and is the younger brother of Sunstar as well as Blue Comet's boyfriend. He's
also a talented artist and graphic designer. While his design
job keeps him busy it doesn't offer
the excitement that his super hero daydreams provide.
Justin is youthful at heart and has an active imagination with a deep
affection for video games, comic books and action figures. He also
has a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time which has
lead to many embarrasing yet, comical, moments. He has always wished
he could be a super hero like his parents and sister,
but being
the
boyfriend of one of Golden Bay City's most celebrated heroes is still
a dream
come
true for him.
Biography
Justin and his sister Jillian grew up very close. When she manifested
her super heat-based powers while the two were in high school, Justin
supported her by keeping it secret from their classmates. Using his
artistic ability, he designed her Sunstar costume. Jillian was the
first person
Justin
came out to
when he realized he was gay. Together the pair kept each other's secrets
and formed an unbreakable bond.
Being
the son of retired super heroes Adam
and Maggie Summers, as well as having
a super-powered sister, Justin assumed he would one day develop powers
of his own.
This however was not the case. At first, Justin felt saddened that
he was not like his family. When he realized as a teenager he was
gay, he felt he had discovered something that made him special too.
However, as most gay teens, he was afraid to tell his parents. With
his sister
Jillian's
assistance,
Justin came out to them and was surprised at their instant
acceptance. They
helped him to consider being gay his own "super power" which
allowed him to embrace his sexual orientation. Although
Justin is comfortable being gay he's found it difficult to
find a boyfriend who didn't find his love of comic books, video games,
and cheesy sci-fi movies, to be childish.
Justin met Derek Maxwell, the Blue Comet, when the hero saved him from
a fall that would have proven fatal. On that fateful day, Justin decided
to secretly follow Sunstar on one of her adventures and ended up onboard
a massive sky city built by the villainous Strato. During an encounter
with the madman, Justin was flung over the edge and Blue Comet quickly
caught him before he could perish.
After
the incident, Blue Comet continued to check in on Justin to make sure
he was alright. Soon after, Blue Comet asked Justin out on a date
and he eagerly accepted. A relationship bloomed and they soon fell
in love. After consulting Sunstar, Blue Comet revealed his true identity
as Derek Maxwell. Shortly
thereafter, Justin and Derek moved into a house of their
very own. Although Justin is "out" and very comfortable with
his sexuality, Derek was still closeted and struggling with living
life as a gay man. Justin loves his super-powered boyfriend and does
his best to help Derek find self-acceptance.
