Sunstar
Real Name:
Jillian Summers
Age:
25

ABILITIES
Sunstar’s powers are derived from heat which she generates within herself. In addition to flight, she can fire intense heat beams from her eyes. Also an expert in hand-to-hand combat, she can unleash flaming melee attacks. Although not a super power, a sardonic and sarcastic wit can also be counted amongst her many abilities.

BIOGRAPHY
Jillian is the daughter of retired super heroes Atom Bomb and Magma Girl, and is Justin’s older sister. Inheriting the super-gene from her parents, she manifested heat-based powers while in high school. Justin helped her by keeping it secret from their classmates. With his help, she learned to control her abilities and since Justin is an artist, she asked him to create her first Sunstar costume. In return, Jillian was the first person Justin came out to when he realized he was gay. Together the pair kept each other’s secrets and formed an inseparable bond.

Sunstar burst into the spotlight while still a teenager when she heroically and selflessly protected the Golden Bay Bridge. Saving the landmark and everyone on it from an icy destruction by the villain Cold Snap, she received the nickname “Golden Bay’s Shining Star!” Her brave actions soon grabbed the attention of local hero, Captain Cosmos. It wasn’t long before she signed up with the World Hero Organization and was crime fighting along side some of the city’s greatest defenders.

Sadly, over the course of her early career, Sunstar’s popularity dropped as more and more fire-based heroes were employed by W.H.O. To remedy this, her agent Mr. Agnew paired her with local hero, Blue Comet. As an added bonus, the duo were soon named Captain Cosmos’ successors and officially inherited the job of patrolling Golden Bay City. Although the two quickly became best friends through their many adventures they didn’t spend much time together outside of their super hero personas.

As an additional way to boost her career, Mr. Agnew decided Sunstar would participate in “Operation: Super Couples”. He informed her that, due to flailing merchandise sales, certain W.H.O. heroes were being urged to have public “romances” with each other to regain media interest. Based on demographic research, Agnew insisted on pairing her with Zap-Man, the incredibly handsome yet, obnoxious, electric-powered hero.

Sunstar was not happy. Like many others, she could not stand Zap-Man’s arrogant personality. Frustrated, she turned to her best friend Blue Comet, who was in the midst of struggling with staying in the closet. Wanting to keep his orientation a secret as well as wanting to help her, Blue Comet proposed that she could avoid the forced pairing with Zap-Man and pretend to have the public “romance” with him instead. Realizing the advantages outweighed the disadvantages, the friends agreed to enlist in the program as a couple.
