Captain Cosmos
Real Name:
George O'Brien
Age:
65 (estimated, actual age unknown)

ABILITIES
Captain Cosmos’ powers are cosmic-based and are similar to his former sidekick, Blue Comet. He has the ability to fly, emit cosmic blasts from his hands, and can lift objects weighing several tons. Surrounding himself with cosmic energy, he can deflect bullets and can survive in the harshest of conditions, including the depths of space. Due to his cosmic powers, his aging has slowed, appearing to be a man of his mid-sixties, he is actually much older.

BIOGRAPHY
Obtaining his powers during the celestial event in the 1940’s that triggered the super powered era, Captain Cosmos was a charter member of W.H.O. and helped to lead the fledgling organization through its early years. After several decades as a solo hero as well as serving as a member of various super teams, the Captain moved to Golden Bay City and began his career as its premier super hero and protector.

Over the span of his career he thwarted hundreds of super villains including the likes of The Madd-Scientist, Cold Snap, Strato, Dr. Simian, E. Vile Genius, Grow-Tesque and Strange-O as he strove to protect his beloved city.

Thanks to his popularity and increased workload, Captain Cosmos was provided a sidekick by W.H.O. and Kid Comet was selected because he shared similar powers and abilities. Captain Cosmos gladly took Kid Comet under his wing and the two enjoyed an adventurous career over their years together. In addition to having a junior partner, the Captain again took up service as a member of several super teams, always lending his powers at a moment’s notice.

Then after five years together, Kid Comet updated his name to Blue Comet and Captain Cosmos proudly realized it was time for his sidekick to move on. Knowing that Blue Comet had much more to offer the world as a hero of his own merit, Captain Cosmos encouraged him to move forward with his super hero career. The Captain then resumed patrolling Golden Bay City on his own.

Eventually, the strain of being needed in too many places took its toll and Captain Cosmos decided to retire after a dangerous encounter in which he nearly lost his life. A huge farewell retirement party was held and attended by many of the world’s heroes during which he named Blue Comet and Sunstar as his successors. As a thank you gift, the citizens of Golden Bay City had a home built for the hero on the moon. The secluded location was a request of Captain Cosmos’ personal physician in order to quiet his compulsion of always helping those in peril without regard for his own safety.

While he visits earth from time-to-time, Captain Cosmos spends most of his time enjoying life in his “little piece of Golden Bay City” on the moon. He rests well, knowing that the safety of his home town is in the capable hands of his successors.
